Breadcrumb Theory
By Warren Contreras
The Internet is evolving into a much more interesting place in my opinion. The constant barrage of advertising in your face is enough to annoy anyone, even the pigs. Maybe you haven't heard the saying, "Never Try To Teach a Pig To Sing, It's a Waste of Time and it Annoys the Pigs". Sooner or later most people who have a website to promote figure that out, or at least we all hope they will. Shoving your message in their face is NOT the way to get them to take action on your most desired result and I bet you don't react to those kind of tactics either, do you? The answer is to embrace Web 2.0 and spread breadcrumbs. If you had to capture some birds (just an analogy) would you run wildly through a field waving a blanket in the air trying to knock down a few, or would you sprinkle a few breadcrumbs around and wait for them to show up? Think about that! Well here we are, sprinkling breadcrumbs again. Why do you think Qondio is so great? The more you get noticed, the more the odds go up that you will attract the kind of birds you are searching for, whatever they might be interested in. I would encourage you to consider that the next time you start to post your links where they will do nothing but annoy a few more pigs. See you all online!

Very true Warren. :)
This is a great piece of intel and nicely written. You are definitely right. Maybe 10 years ago you could try and thrust some new internet site at people, but these days most of us are too bombarded to notice, and most attempts at a hard sell just get deleted. Subtly placing breadcrumbs on various sites and getting noticed, building up a "fan club" so to speak, is probably the best way to try and earn a living online these days.

Oh my gosh, you just dissected my strategy, I hope it doesn't spread too far or the Internet just may become tolerable. I know you are right, because 10 years ago I was doing it. Thanks for taking some time to answer.
Love the way you presented this, easy to grasp the concept this way.
I agree. What comes to mind is a current radio ad promoting Yellow Book. Maybe you've heard it. They put a man in a boat in a tank of toxic chemicals and then ask him how he wants to advertise -- with giving away pens or in Yellow Book. They don't let him out of the boat until he says he'll advertise in Yellow Book. I personally hate that commercial, but what's worse than the commercial is the calls I get from Yellow Book sales reps which are just as pressuring. They don't take no for an answer. I'm beginning to just hang up on them if I can get them to admit who they are. They'd be a lot better at attracting me if they would spread the crumbs instead of chasing me.

Oh I LOVE those calls. I have an easy to spell domain name just for them, then I compliment them on their highly skilled telephone tactics and ask if they would like to turn that into some serious income without putting their current job at risk until they pass their current earning level? I think you can get the rest.
What a great piece of advise, you old retired guy! I love it and look forward to reading more of your senior wisdom. Best of luck. Frederick
nice advice, I agree.
It is just so hard to spread breadcrumbs all over the Internet, not to mention messy. *smiles* What YOU have done, is spread 'words of wisdom' and that is appreciated. I have an Internet Marketing drum to beat, but I don't wish to annoy anybody, so I go about it like Elmer Fudd, vewy, vewy, qwietly. Thanks for your Intel.

If you don't have a little wisdom there won't be much hope of attracting anyone, would there? Thanks for commenting.
My mother was always telling me if I put salt on a bird's tail feathers, I could catch it. I later figured out that if you got that close, of course you could catch it.
I use whole wheat bread crumbs. Sometimes I add just a little butter.
Well said. Hope more people get the message.
nice strategy that seems to work.
